Question Ever happened to you ?

Have any of you got caught in a major torrential rain storm ? Stopped or rode it out ?

An event that happened to me..sshhhessshhh !!!

Last summer while on a bike run to the NJ shores, my wife and I got caught in a major, major torrential downpour halfway there and I'm talking buckets on rain. I didn't see any overhead bridges for some protection so kept on riding for about 35 miles before rain slowed down...damn that wasn't fun as I couldn't hardly see but luckly made it to our destination. We were completely DRENCHED !!!! And get this..it happened before. On another occasion during a downpour, I rode 70 miles home in the steady rain.....lol ..crazy.. gotta get a damn rain suit for these unexpected downpours, especially during the dead summer months.

Psh more like bees wearing a metal suit of armor. I get stuck in the rain atleast a couple times every summer. It sucks but II never had to ride 70 miles to make it home! I usually wont pull over unless I really just cant see. When its raining I just want to make it home.

Last one, I was soooo wet, I had to take everyting out of my wallet and lay it out to dry, it was all soaked. It rained so hard that about 30 mph was all I could do on the highway. Ah well, if the unexpected never happened, we wouldnt have anything to talk about.

yeah, in montana if you go 30 on the highway you'd prob die. people will still do 84 in a downpour. the only thing that slows us down is snow, and they will still shut down the interstate before people will go 30. its crazy man

I rarely leave for a ride when it is raining...I have returned home often in the rain.
On the praries of Alberta you can see rain clouds long before they threaten to dump on you. Often you can take an alternate route to avoid the rain or hail...But when you get caught in a deluge DAMN. Sometimes the water is covering the road and the rain is hitting so hard it is splashing up about waist high. And it is cold water...not like the warm showers you get in the desert.
Yup. I try to find an overpass or a service station to pull over at but that isn't always an option.
My answer is good gear. Textile gear if rain is likely and leather if it is not.
