RE: Don't fly with FLYOU
I'll fly with him anytime.
Did you guys even read the title? Cross Winds They're a real bitch.
I saw no loss of control, and I'm sure once the pucker factor let up, his seat cushion slowly came back into view...he adjusted his aviators...and kept going.
Good job FLYOU.

Yep, landing in a heavy crosswind is one of the most unnerving experiences you can have, and it takes an ungodly ammount of skills to get it right.
Depending on how heavy the crosswind component is You're bassically aproaching the airfiels on a sideslip, looking through the side window at where youre going while maintaining the aircraft on the glideslope, which is a lot steeper than normal because of hte same crosswind.
At the last minute, when you're about to flare the aircraft to touch down, you have to simutlaneously kick the rudder to bring hte nose in line with the runway, and lift the wing that's down wind slightly to keep the aircraft from drifting out of the runway.
You touch down on the upwind main gear first, and float the downwind side for a bit until you scrub off enough speed.
On heavy jets, you also apply the thrust reversers, and evry spoiler on the wings to increase drag, and eliminate as much lift from the wings as you can, but you don't touch the brakes untilboth main gears, and the nose gearare solidly on the ground.
Talk about being task saturated!!
Hell, a lot of aircraft aren't even flyable in those croswind conditions.
I also saw a couple of go-arrounds there.
GOOD FOR HTE PILOTS!! If the landing doesn't seem right, swallow your pride and go the hell arround, better to screw up the pattern, than to bend a jet because you "must get it on the ground"
