Default Disorderly Person Charge?

I was wondering if any of you know if there is fines or what goes along with being charged for "disorderly person." I was visiting a few friends this weekend when my friend was getting into an argument with someone over a stupid lighter. Turns out I got in the middle of it and got arrested. First time I have ever been in any trouble. Next Monday I have to go to court. Anyone have any ideas??

It depends. If it is a disorderly conduct charge, it can range from a easily paid fine, to cmmunity service (if your city has it), to jail time. However, it depends on what happened. If you struck someone, and they pressed charges, and there is applicable damage present on the victim, them you are looking at pretty large fines or even time. However, in most cities, you would have stayed in jail until you court date if the damage was that severe (if there was any). If it was all verbal, and it was just to diffuse the situation, most likely, just fines. If you were intoxicated at the time of the offense and it was mostly verbal, then it is most likely just fines and the only reason they took you was due to you intoxication and they wanted to diffuse the situation. HONESTLY, it all depends on what you did and what state of mind you were in at the time of the offense. However, if you are charge, it will most likely be on your record, so, it all comes down to circumstances. Best of luck!!! Hopefully this helps.

It was just a bunch of pushing.... We knew the kid from inside the bar so we were kinda friends. He isn't going to press charges or anything. We told the police that it was just a misunderstanding between friends. My friends talked to the police officer for like 15 mins and he said he almost let me go and was only going to take the other kid because he had a warrent out. But desided to take both of us. Of course we were drinking at the time but I wasn't drunk or anything. The other guy blew a .1 or something but they never even checked me. This was just stupid... i dont even get in trouble and im a nice guy, i've been having a horrible month!

Definattely sounds like a missunderstanding to me. I wouldnt see why you would get much of anything. If anything at all.

If thats the case you should be fine. At most you will pay a fine, but if it is in their report that no charges were persude and that both parties were under the interpretation that it was a misunderstanding, they may even drop it. Its up to your local law and officer then

Well seeing how people always say 'I was drinking in the bar, but I wasn't drunk or anything...' is the most guilty sentence you can state. Secondly, if you were trying to break up the arguement, how come your friend didn't get charged with anything if you were trying to defuse the situation?

Because on a disordely call someone has to go to jail. And diffusing the situation is still in the situation, so that doesnt matter. However, since you both went to jail, and no charges were press, you should be okay, and just get out with a fine, but it up to the courts and officers.

Yea it was just a yelling match between my friend and the other guy. Then somehow he got pist at me when I was trying to help and I was going to stand my ground. He made the first move but im sure that doesn't matter. I'm not just going to stand there when he grabs me by my neck. I will see what happens Monday. How much do court fees usually run? Also don't you get your bond money back once you show up for court? Does anyone know?

Yes you usually do, but if they want to run the fines up on you, they might throw in apart of the plea agreement that you forfiet your bond/bail money as a discount off your total fine sum.
