Default Did I give good advice?

Sorry for all of the new threads but I was hoping to direct some more attention to a thread in the F2 forum about it being a good first bike. Anyone with a second who know's something about this bike did I give good advice?

An F2 is a great bike, I owned one for a while before my F3 .. you cant go wrong with CBRs in general if you get a good one .. as a first bike though its very subjective ..some will say a 600 is great because they are a ***** cat low down whilst at the high end they are a blast to ride .. it alll depends on the novice though ..if they cant control their right hand then they may well find the power band takes them by surprise in a bend or somewhere and they lose it .. so some will say get something smaller like a 250cc bike first to practise on ... but if someone can already ride then a well cared for F2 is an absolutely fine bike in anyones book :-)

I agree.a 600 is a great first bike. I started out on a cbr F3 and I'm glad I did. My wife started out on an R6. Like Juliet said, they are really tame down low and as long as the person riding it understands this and keeps thier throttle in check until they are more experienced, they are fine. Also, I did some research and for my wife who is only 5'3", the R6 was 40lbs lighter than the ninja 500.. My wife never uses all of her bike, and probably never will.... I hope.... But I think a 500 is just too small in my opinion. and if the person gets a 600, they wont be bored with it before the summer ends.. A 600 will provide a ton of fun for a long long time.

Also, it all depends on the person. there are some people that shouldnt ever be on a bike. I think we all know the type. The chucklehead that think they can do anything, can ride better than anyone, has the best of everything and needs to show it...... theinmatureperson. Those types of people would kill themselves or even worse, someone esle, even if they were on a moped..

In my experience, if the person is asking if a 600 is too big, that shows a certain amount of maturity on their part. If they respect the bike before they even ride it, they will respect all that much more when they do.

I think a F2 or an F3 is an OK starter bike, but a F4 or F4i is too light and powerful for a beginner bike. They are only a step or two behind the RRs in alot of ways. A better choice is still a smaller bike, it willallow a rider to learn more about conservation of momentum and throttle control.
