Hey guys, just thought id post up, but i decided on building my new computer instead of buying one. Dont want to hear anything about this one...but Vista home premium is what ill be running. I just like it, havent had many problems. I might partition my hard drive and or get another drive and run linux..havent decided yet, the ***** still in the air on that one.

Allrighty..i think thats about it. Ive got my monitors...i just need to decide on a keyboard and mouse. I think i am going to get 2 sets. One will be the logitech G5 mouse with a wired slim keyboard(just dont know which one, but i love the slim type boards)

And another set will be a wireless RF

Default RE: Decided to build my new computer

Sounds like a real nice setup... but I ponder the weakness of the power supply to properly fuel that rig... Shoot, I run an 800W power supply on my old-school single Core AMD 3500+, ASUS A8N-SLI Delux Motherboard, 2 gigs of ram (PCI 3200) and single 7600 gt graphics card. I firmly believe you can never be pumping in TOO much power... but I'm running just a little above the reccommended on my system, with room for SLI if I wanted to go that route with it's power demands.

On another note, always liked ASUS, and that graphics card is some sweet action! Very nice, I'm jealous.

Its a cheap setup too..about $1100!!!
I have heard of people running this same power supply running SLI on 2 8800GT's with no problem. So i think i should be fine. If not oh well...im only down $60. ya know?

oh yea, when i get around to building, i will make a new thread with pics.. thought thatd be kinda cool to show you guys.

...then i realize that i have a bad MOBO and have to wait[:@]..im hoping everything works. it seems like there has been a lot of quality control issues with almost all PC parts...

Ouch... that sucks. I had an issue like that as well... even if there is a chance it was my fault. (*Mental note: Updating the bios manually can be a bad thing if research isn't done beforehand on the drivers!*) Good luck getting it all up and running!

Here's my setup:

Core 2 Duo E6750
Crucial Balistix 2 x 1Gb DDR2 800
Abit IP-35 Pro
LG DVD-RW-DL
ViewSonic Q20WB
GeForce 7950GT
WD2500YS x 3 (RAID 5)

Run it all on a 430 watt PSU and built it for under $1200.

Looks good to me. I would check out the memory though as they are running faster stuff now. Not sure if the MB has the capacity, but faster memory is always better. I wouldn't worry about the power supply. You should have enough there. The most important thing is quality over watts advertised.

What's nice about the newer stuff is that there is a ton of stuff for X-16 and AM MBs. My current PC has an X2 3800+ and I can upgrade to a 5200+ for about $100 and add double the memory for less than a hundy. =basically new computer.

Im not worried about the wattage of the Power supply. If anything i am looking for the right amount of amperage to run the video card. Ive been talking to nauree. I think the PSU is sufficient enough to run it as of now. Rrasco vouched for the Ultra brand power supplies, so i trust him that they are good quality.

With the memory...i dont think it is necessary right now to nearly double the price for DDR2 1066. If the 800 isnt fast enough, we will see down the road. Another good thing about building my own PC, when i want something faster, just upgrade it and i know exactly what is in my pc case.

Should be sweet. Antec 900 kicks ***! I'm running the same case. Sucks your new system will be faster than mine, but hey, I can live with that. The thing with RAM speed is you want to match the bus speed with the mobo. That's why I am running 800Mhz.

Here is my new setup:

Antec 900
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
Athlon Windsor 3.0Ghz X2
Nvidia GeForce 7950GX2 1GB PCIe
3.0GB Corsair XM2 800Mhz
WD 250GB 3.0GB/s sata HDD <--Soon to be upgraded to Seagate cuda, only brand I trust, but the WD was free, so meh.
Ultra V-Series 500W Modular PSU

And on a side note, if the PSU doesn't man up to the job, so long as your register it, there is a lifetime warranty through Ultra.

I think it is going to work allright. Do you think i will have heat problems with the stock CPU heatsink and fan?? I might upgrade that in the future too...
