False on all counts.
EQ Came out in 99. Remember the system req's were so high, they started bundling the game with a stick of RAM? Comps in 1996 wouldn't have been able to TOUCH it.
The first graphical MMORPG was Neverwinter Nights, in 1991. You had to play it through AOL, as Steve Case (CEO of AOL) was a MASSIVE DnD fan, and was all about getting an MMORPG scene started over the Internet (Hey! AOL did something useful!).
Hell, even Ultima Online was out before EQ.
Please PM me your Crown of +6 Nerdiness; you have been defeated.

I still sort of stand by my original statement though. EQ was the game that really reached popular consciousness to the point where even people who didn't play knew what it was.

You want to know what's really funny? I actually have a cabinet full of prescription Rohypnol
it's my sleep medication.
You forgot to put "prescription" and "sleep medication" in quotes.
Did your "doctor" actually request that the "pharmacy" dispense "ONE CABINET FULL" of the stuff?
