Crappy Ass Parking Lot = 1... Me=0

You would need to prove that they knew the lot was paved improperly and that it posed a safety hazard to get anything from the apartment people. Everyone I know carries a square piece of metal to put under the stand for those hot days.

It's not necessarily defective, asphalt is crap. Add a little heat or even a bit of oil/gas and it's worse. Even the MSF course teaches you not to park like that.

My honda has a center stand....errrr wait, that's the other honda.
I took a steel (like 12 guage) plate and welded a tiller tine pin to it. Then I drilled a slightly larger hole in the kick stand base. That way I'm not always forgetting it where ever I used the last one, AND, if I do accidently forget to take it off, the hair pin would keep it in place. It also acts as a leveler. 929's lean over more than average when they're on the kick stand. Picture all this the size of cup coaster.
It doesn't take really any more or less time to use it. Plus in the trunk compartment there is a tab of the subframe for the lockmount for the cowl latch, so I just drilled another hole to keep it from bouncing around in there.
Didn't mean to thread jack. Sorry that your bike took a fall. But you can't hold them responsible. That would be like holding them responsible if a big gust of wind came over a building and tipped your bike over. It's a peril of ownership. Chalk it up to lesson learned.

I had this happen to me when I first started riding. My quick and super cheap cure: 4 Inch Square Box Covers. You can pick them up at lowes for around 38-77 cents. And if you leave it behind while your out, that not much money your out. I usually buy 2 a season and they work great. Galvonized steel for the win!
