Counterfeit money?
So I went to Publix (a big chain grocery store) today and got cash back when I checked out,
a 10 and 2 fives
the ten is normal
but the fives are really weird feeling, the look the part, but they seem way too stiff and new, i have gotten new bills before but they never felt like this. they aren't normal paper, but they don't feel like money paper either, almost plastic like.
and the ink doesn't seem as good as most bills, i took one of them an crumpled it up and when i uncrumpled it the were a few spots in the creases that look like it got messed up. and when i took my finger nail and scratched the ink where the micro print was around Lincolns head it seem to smudge or blur a bit.
Also when you crumple them they feel sharp in your hand and they don't like to un-crumple as well as other bills do.
They do have the security strip when you hold it up to the light that says USA FIVE
Am i just being paranoid or is this something to look into? Does any one know if there are water marks on fives? and if so what they are?
they are series 2003 (that is the update year, not when they were printed as far as I know) and the serial numbers are FK 67677717B and FK67677707B
the fact that they have such similar numbers could mean that they can fresh from a new batch sent to the bank that in turn sent them to publix.

i work at a store and i can easyly tell a fake bill. most of the time just by the paper u know its fake its not really paper its more like cloth. the pen is not vary good so dont try it. most bills pass the pen test.

Whom ever made the fake $1s is a genius. Who'd suspect a counterfeit $1 bill? No one...

Take your questionable fives with you when you go out drinking. spend them at the busiest bartender you can find, or just tip him the 5er.
I worked at a bank for a few years. Usually counterfeit bills are caught first based on how the paper feels. The marker test is pretty good but not foolproof. Also, i always noticed that counterfeit bills came in with deposits from gas stations almost all the time. Does the paper have small fibers embedded in it, or are they just printed on?
I'd check this link out.
