coldest ride this season
Merry Christmas to you all, just wanted to post that my ride to work was the coldest ride this season. I left home with -1 freezing fog and arrived in warm (haha) London at +1 all measurements in C.
What stops you guys/gals from riding. Me, its just when the snows too thick to get through!

RE: coldest ride this season
My coldest ride was on my birthday this year.
I knew it was gonna get nasty, but it was supposed to wait until the PM. I got out of work at noon...
It was a whopping 17F and my bike was covered in 1/2" of sleet. I looked awful funny in the parket lot with the bike warming up chipping away atchunks of ice. The roads were worse.
In all, I almost went down 4 times, and one time scared the living sh#t outta me. I was moving into a turning lane and the bike didn't want to stop "moving" in that direction - a full-size pickup was coming straight for me and we were close enough to make eye contact... we were both scared. At the last moment my rear tire caught some sort of traction and I started moving straight... whew.
The worst part about the ride, besides seemingly "drifting" the whole 9 mile ride home (had to keep it in 5th at about 20mph to keep from breaking traction), was the fact that my visor got all wet so I went to wipe it off... it was ice. Now I'm spooked. I must have looked quite the moron at the stoplight punching my visor to break the ice.
That sucked. Did wonders for my confidence though.
