To close for comfort
So I just got new rubber put on the other day. I mounted the tires and rims, torque'd down everything, and even put a little bit of loctite in a few select places. I lowered the bike off the stands, went over everything to make sure it looked right, and then proceeded to back the bike out of my garage and down my sloped driveway so I could proceed to wash it. Well, I start rolling down my driveway, reach for the front brake, and the lever goes straight down to the bar. I pump it a few times, and still got nothing. Mean while, I'm picking up speed going backwards down my driveway, dragging my legs desperately trying to stop the bike (ofcouse the bike is in neutral also.) After about a second or two of, oh sh*t this is going to be bad, real bad. I took a chance, and used the back brake to come to a gentile and smooth start. Now, this might not seem that scrary at first, but imagine rolling downhill, backwards, about 50 feet from a near brand new car. Not only was I gonna wreck my baby (who has never been down) I was also gonna smash the front end of an 05 grand prix. When all is said and done, after 5-10 more pumps on the front brake I regained pressure. Lesson learned, and a word of advice to all of you, always check for brake pressure before moving any vehicle.
