Hey Hang, good to hear you're moving foward with getting the old lady on a bike. I'm hoping to do the same thing here before the year ends, and hopefully end up with a new bike as well
I'd recommend getting the yellow '05 with only 5K miles on it. This being her first bike, it would be nice for her to get the one she wants, and she'd be more apt to want to ride it. Her first bike will be one she'll probably never forget so it be very generous of you to give her good memories to remember, not to mention scoring some serious brownie points in the process. Also, the bike with 5K vs. the one with 15K, maintenace wise, would be a lot easier. With the older one it's at that point where things need to start being replaced (chain, plugs, ect...). IMHO

Had a couple of friends that had the Yellow model, both females & they liked the colour.
Not sure on which year model of the SV's it happened, but they got some adjustment for firmness set up on the front suspension. Not a big problem really, as you can still play with the set up using the old "insert X amount of washers on top of the springs" trick.
Even the models with the firmness adjustment still suffer from way to soft suspension (especially under hard braking), so a change to a heavier fork oil weight would go along way. I think your going to enjoy riding this bike to, they love cornering & you can go the rat & hammer through the twisties without easing up on the throttle, great fun.

I think you are making the right decision. If she gets the one she wants it will enthuse her for the hobby. It might be a grand right now but you will be selling it relatively soon and will get most of that back most likely.... It is not like it is just GONE!!
