Choices..Choices..Choices.. feh.
So I'm picking up a new bike either this weekend or the next, taking advantage of the yearly pre-winter price drops. I plan on trying to keep the f4i around but we don't really need 4 bikes for just me and my SO so one will likely go. Up to her which she wants to keep and use as her normal ride next year, the 05 sv650s or the 01 f4i, we'll see.
Anyways, narrowed it down to two bikes, a 2004-2007 R1 or CBR 1KRR. I'm having a hard time choosing. On one hand is the R1, arguably the dead sexiest thing on two wheels, on the other hand is the 1kRR, which gets beat out ever so slightly in the appearance category against the R1 but makes a solid comeback in the performance and quality categories. This ones stumping me a bit and my minds frying a little from overthinking it. The performance gain on the cbr is offset by the fact that I'll never be able to push either of these bikes near their limits on the street, and the appearance bit I'm wavering a bit on. Quality though is important to me.
I think a fresh perspective might be just what I need to jar my mind loose and rattle a choice out of it. I'll pick whatever bike I want obviously but some not-from-my-own-head perspectives that I may not considered would be appreciated. Also, try to be unbiased, I know I'm posting this in our cbr forum, but lets do our best, heh. Pro's Cons, tech differences, whatever.
Oh and, yes I know how to handle liter bikes, no it wouldn't be the first time I've ridden one, no I'm not really interested in a 600rr or R6, and no I prolly can't ride a 600 to it's full potential yet. To be honest after over a decade of riding 600's and 750's they just don't do it for me or really excite me the way they used to and I want to replace the high rpm goodness with some lower rev torque. Plus most importantly, it's what I want so

Nice choice in bikes Hang. The anniversary edition R1 is freakin sweet, and I honestly don't care for the Repsol orange (personally),
but that's just paint anyways. You could probably sell those fairings and make a bundle. What kills it for me on the R1 is the undertail exhaust;
it's butt ugly, imo. I vote for the Honda 1000RR.

Hang ...IMO , that Repsol is absolutely bloody wonderful !!!!
what a great looking CBR !!
The Repsol even looks better built than the Yam ...and we all know that because it is a Honda ..it is better built and does without even trying the 2 , feel better built to ride ...
Sure ..the Yam goes great ...but mate ....yu don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that Yams .." all of them " feel like a piece of bloody flimsy sheet metal under you ...it's just something about the way they are made and the way they are designed ?

Here's an update, for some reason I hadn't realized there was a mid-model update of the 1krr in 06 that revamped the body panels. All this time I've been comparing just the 04-05 1krr's to the r1's. I'm really loving the 06-07 1krr's. Only problem is I can't find a repsol to save my life in my entire state. I mean, I can find a bunch of repsol 600rr's but no liters. I did however find a good deal on a 06 1krr I like.
It just hit 10k miles, a cf exhaust and pcIII. Nice looking bike. Dunno how I feel about the pcIII though. I mean on the one hand I would just end up slapping one on it if it didn't have one. But I'm not entirely happy it's already there, know what I mean? Only problem I'm having now is second guessing my decision. I mean, for $500-$1000 more I've found a few bikes with only a couple thousand miles and a year or two newer, mostly R1's tho. Feh, I hate making decisions like this, well mostly hate it. Someone please remind me that there really is no wrong choice. Sigh....
Oh and the Anni. Ed. R1? Still available but got sent some "damage shots" that show that it got slid just enough to rash the anni. ed. stickers on one side up. No idea where I could find replacements for that short of handpainting them myself so that one got moved down the list.

Now now, we're not here to bash other makes ... are we??
I think the Yamaha R1 is a fine bike but Hondas are better finished in general ...
either bike would be the ride of your life and it is down to personal preference in my opinion ...
I do simply prefer the CBR though, not keen on the Yamaha's exhaust or it's front compared
with the CBR's more aggressive stance ... it is nice to have choices though :-)

than most photos of them :-)
