I have a brand spankin' new rear on mine, too, with about 5miles on it for testing. I'll let you know...
CBRClassic is right on, though....

 

The more you shift your weight to the inside, the less your bike leans and the bigger your chicken strips.

Personally I'd rather hang off a little more and conserve lean angle, in case I need it in a hurry.

In street riding I scrub off the top of the Diablo pitchfork, but don't get all the way to the edge.

 

I'll play... here are mine with < 100 miles on them. Look closely and you'll see they don't have a round profile any more (most noticeable at the bottom)

I have about 3" of strips on each side. Better safe than sorry imo.

 

I am nearly chicken stripless. One day at the track and they would be gone.

Here's a pic of my Road 2's with about 1k miles. This is in the Deal's Gap Resort Parking lot... lol..
Like CBRClassic said.....strips come and go from day to day.
