Default Car tires....what to do?

So the story goes that there are 4 tires needed on a car. But how many of us just needed to get 2, when 1 tire is bad. They always try to sell you sets of 2 tire because car will be more balance...so you buy 2 tires and they charge you for disposal fee on 2 tires but one tire that is basically 70% new?

Have anyone ever been in such situation? Or is it possible just to buy 1 used tire on eBay with similar tread wear? And the seller likely obtain used tire the same way they did by selling someone a pair, when one tire gone bad..LOL..

This is life experience day to day street smart question?

by me (and i admit that it is out in the "sticks" comparatively), a lot of people sell used tires. just pick one up until you need to get new ones all around. that's what i would do.

One thing I do, get the 2 tires and have the better of the old tires mounted to the
spare rim. Everyone neglects the spare till they need it. If you only have a mini-spare,
you can save the extra for a road-hazard situation, later on.

It actually IS a good idea for ride comfort and handling to replace in pairs.
However, it is NOT absolutely essential for the more budget-minded to do so.

It's a good idea to mount the 2 that are paired, to the front end where you will get more uniform steering control.

I've done this before. It's like $10 for the tire.....maybe $15-20 if they mount and balance it.

might have an okay matching used tire ........ but also I'm with Ern with buying two.

I run a front wheel drive and tear the **** out of the fronts .....every 14 months
I buy a new pair of fronts as opposed to the rears every 2 1/2 years or so... winter
is hell up here in ME ... I put on about 22k miles per year

Most every tire dealer sells used tires. They're the ones (like yours) that they took off someones car with 70% tread left, and charged for "disposal". They then sell the tire to someone like you that needs a used tire. You should be able to find one that's reasonable...

If it is a front wheel drive just put the mismatched tires on the rear.

So my front 2 tires have 50% left, my rear 2 tire are due soon before it starts to rain then it will be hazardous to drive.

So I purchased a pair of used Yoko TRZ with 7-8/32 tread left. At least that's what the seller says. I receive tires past Monday, chit...**** off man. 1 tire is indeed nice! 7-8/32nd tread left, but the other one has uneven wear towards to side...I would say about 5/32nd...worst of all, I found a nail in the tire!!!

What would you do? eBay seller has 99.8% positive feedback....only chit happen to me on my purchase...

Contact seller first, **** happens, stuff slips by, he may
be a guy that stands on his hind-legs.

File a complaint, nail and un-even wear if not declared is
fraud from where I'm standing. Both E-bay and Pay-pal
give you recourse, use it.

Tks Ern..Just contacted the seller and he was surprise too, took some photos and forwarded to him...guess it's his lost because shipping 2 tires across the state is not cheap.
