Pam, put a coat on and stand outside for a wee bit with a warm milky drink ..just relax, breathe deeply and let the night envelop you for a time .. it works better than you might imagine :-)

I am blessed with great sleep. I only get 5.5 to 6 hours a night and that's it. I fall asleep within 10 minutes of laying down and get up without an alarm.

I can imagine that not sleeping well would be a horrible thing.

I'm sort of the same way. When I get to sleep (usually early - between 9 and 10pm) I sleep the sleep of the dead. If the roof would blow off in the middle of the night (almost happened once) I wouldn't notice until I woke up the next morning.I get to work at4:00am most mornings and wake up at 3:00am, so even on the weekends after a late night,my body kicks me out of bedwithout an alarm by 5:30am at latest.

Oh...and congrats! You have an avatar now!!

Don't lie in bed trying to sleep, read or watch TV, avoid the computer if you can. wait till you feel sleepy. My favourite sleep recipe is a nice couple of fingers of scotch, (but don't drink to get tipsy, just relax), I like to lower my body temp, so I throw off the doona, them imagine myself being far away, some place nice or trying to remember details of a favourite ride.
The more you try to force sleep the harder it gets to actually fall asleep

I just have semi skimmed and its usually a Horlicks or cocoa drink ..I am not a big milk drinker as such but I do find the warm milky drink relaxes me and works :-)
