Yep. I've been (well, was) taking my bike to empty roads way out in undeveloped subdivisions and practicing the drills I learned at CSS. Let's just say that the more you practice, the more you can read exactly what the bike is gong to do before it does it. Amazing drills, and they're fun. The "quick flick" is by far the most entertaining thing I can practice.

I'm going to take the Level II class (if finances permit, and a spot opens up) at Laguna Seca again. That track is just way too addicting to do only once. I'll probably take Level III and IV, as well as the "CODERACE" courses at Laguna as well (over time of course). Can't wait. Just thinking back to my experience is giving me goosebumps, and making me not having a bike right now excruciatingly painful.

I think I am going to rent a bike. I haven't tested any other bike but hondas. I saw that they use kawasaki bikes. How would you describe the handling and response of the bike compared to a 600cc honda or to a 2005 F4i like mine? Does it really take time until you get used to the bike?

The Kawasaki's were surprisingly pleasant to ride. The suspension was spot on, brakes were great and cornering was excellent (but these are purpose-built track bikes too.) The only problem with renting their bikes is that it takes you a session or two to get used to them. And when you only have 5 or 6 sessions a day, taking 2 sessions to get used to a bike is wasting valuable track time. So, taking that into consideration, I'm doing my next classes again with my own bike.

And just an FYI to everyone. They didn't have any special fancy track tires on these bikes either. They stuck like glue, and had enormous amounts of grip from regular Dunlop Qualifiers. Everyone that was riding the schools bikes had the same surprised reactions that I did when I looked and found that they were only regular Qualifiers. (but I'm sure the way the suspension was setup had something to do with it too.)

Thanx for all the info Blue.

I think I'll buy new tires and then a trip from Charlotte NC to VA, fill up the tank, tape up and go.

^^ GET TIRES FROM THEM!!!!!!

Since Dunlop is one of their suppliers, they sell the Qualifiers for $200 bucks. That's front AND rear for $200 flat. They'll install them for you right at the track while you are in your first briefing. (since they have a repair-shop in house)

Not to mention, a perk of taking the class is Dunlop Qualifier's for $200/set for LIFE. Since you took their class, you can order as many sets of Dunlop Qualifier's as you want from them. $200 bucks flat, no tax, no shipping charges........right to your front door. This is only one of the perks you get from taking their class.

^^ Other than being able to ride on professional race tracks that would normally cost you upwards of $10,000/day to rent..................a set of tires for $200...............incredible curriculum to make you a better rider................and quite possibly having the most fun you've ever had on your bike....................no.

I just got this msg from the school. I wanted to post it for those who are interested. Besides the tire deal, they say that they are working on lubricant, leather and helmet deals:

[blockquote][blockquote]School students,

The school discount on Dunlop tires is: Qualifiers are $200 per set
and GPA 208s are $250 a set,
FREE SHIPPING and NO SALES TAX.

Superbike School riders who have either been students or are signed
up for a school date are entitled to
this Dunlop tire discount. Yes, if you have more than one bike you
can still get tires at that rate.

Call the office at 800 530-3350 and order them. Expect delivery in
from 2 to 4 weeks. The tires as shipped
from Buffalo where they are made.

We are working with Silkolene Lubricants to get a smoking deal on
synthetic oils and I'll let you know when
that happens. This isn't good oil it is great oil.

We are also working on getting you deals for leathers and other
riding gear from AGV Sport as well as KBC
helmets.

Do the math, if you are paying retail and bought two sets of tires at
the above prices you would have paid for
about half your school session cost! Please take advantage of this
great deal before Dunlop come to their
senses on how cheap they are selling the tires our students.

Blue Fox - I just got an email from CSS offering me the tire deal. Were you impressed enough that you would run them on your bike?

The price seems right but I am debating them for street and track use. I will not attend the school until 19 May, andI would like to take advantage of the deal while I still can.I would appreciate your advice on this.

Thanks,
BP
