I don't cover them my fingers are too short and fat to do that. When using them index and middle on both. I used to be 4 and 4 but then I was watching racers and they only use 1 or 2 fingers and I wanted to be cool so now I'm 2 and 2.

2&2-index and middle fingers are always controling or resting on the levers

1&3 middle finger on the clutch and 3 fingers on the brake.

 

Usually 4 on clutch sometimes 2, and only my middle finger on brake.

 

This actually made me modify how I ride...now i try to cover the brake with two and the clutch with two kinda like in the car....

1 in the mud, 2 in the pud....and sometimes 1 on the speed bag!
