something a lot of people don't realize when they remove their stock pipe is that the muffler bearing has to be re-aligned properly when re-installing the exhaust. this is probably what's causing your friend's bike to not start. have him call his local Kawasaki dealership and ask about it, they should be willing to give you advice about this without asking you to bring the bike in.
