bike purchase idea
ok, i know i have said before that i was going to get a 05 f4i....well that has kind of fallen through...so now i need to find something else....i have 3-4 weeks before i will be able to even think about purchasing one, but i will be searching and contemplating up until then...
so i need some ideas on a bike to go get, i am leaning onthe 07 600rr, but the price is a big con for me...so i thought about the gixxer 600s, those are cheaper, but dont have the performance of the rr...
now i would love to get a rc51, seeing as how its my favorite bike, but its a 1kcc so i didnt think it would be a great idea....
i am open for any input.....i am an extreme honda-head, so the rr will prob be my choice....

Oh... to be honest I think a 600rr is too much. Why would you want to spend all that money on a new bike if you're not very experienced? What if you drop it? What if you crash it?
I think your best bet is to look for a cheaper, older model to learn on. Ideal bikes are 600F2's and F3's, or maybe an old Ninja 500 or 600 (yes, yes, they're not Hondas, but they will serve their purpose). I spent $1800 on my F2, and it's the wisest thing I've ever done. I dropped (i.e., fell over, not crashed) it twice in the first month because of newb mistakes, and was thankful that it wasn't a minty new bike. It's plenty fast for a beginner, and I've learned how to control the power.
It may not be the prettiest bike out there, but at least I know how to ride it. Best of all, I'm no squid that went out and spent $10K on a bike I can't handle.

yeah, i had thought about buying a older bike to start with but i just really cant bring myself to do it...i would prob go with a 03-04+ rr or f4i, but i couldnt go all the way back to early 90's....
buying something like that just goes against my beliefs when it comes to the newest technology, etc....
and when it comes to not being able to handle the bike, i have plenty on room to practice with it before i go out into the world...i live on a back road that is rarely used by anyone except those that live down it....

Tennessee makes a great point. Just to help emphasise the point, we bought my wife a ex-250 (Ninja). She has never ridden anything but quads before. She has fallen over about four times (kick stand, gravel in the driveway, etc). Also, she has slid down an embankment recently. Glad we didn't rockeven the $3500 for a new 250, let alone the$7-8000 for a 600, let alone $10k for a 1000. A Ninja 500 would be a sweet bike to start on. Check the local trader mags...that's the way to go! By the way, I am assuming you are new to riding, am I confused? If so, I'll shut my cake hole.

forget all the other advice, go for the hayabusa or any liter bike...after all...it's all about rider control and not the bike right? muahahha...
in all honesty...don't even worry about performance difference between f4i, 07rr, 06 and earlier rr, gixxer, etc...because fact is, by the time you're able to reach the bike's potential, the bike will be very old...and it'll time for something new.
a newer bike with "better performance" is only as good as the rider...and would just look silly when you get stomped on by someone on an F2.

Do whatever you want, but don't go bashing other people's advice after you ask for it. The difference in horsepower between a F4i and 600rr is about 20, which is a HUGE amount when talking about a 380lb machine. Maybe you would be better starting off on a Ninja 250.
