And yet, even with statistical data, people don't care about their own well being. It really disappoints me knowing my own family members are out riding around with zero gear on (and yes, I have made them aware of that!).

Don't forget, the increase is also tied to the fact that there are more motorcycles on the road. But I agree that a helmet improves ones chances.

I grew up riding dirt bikes and taking spills was an everyday event. I couldn't image riding, especialy on the street, without gear on...
