Until you forget to unhook the tether before you run into the gas station.

i thought the same thing, lol

30 lbs is nothing once you hook your leg over the bike and there it goes, you look like a blow up doll.

Either that or you end up pulling the bike with it! Then you'll need it to inflate so the bike has something "soft" to land on!

Dainese has been working on this for years
YouTube - Dainese airbag suit for 2010

Rossi and Lorenzo have been wearing them.

Looks like Dainese is planning to start selling to the general public. Dainese - D-air - D-air street
Their system deploys is 45 milliseconds

that takes ***** to just lay the bike down like that. glad hes ok. the dainese looks good. but would do better if it protected the torso area and not just the top. the dainese suit really survied that little slide on the ground

Well there is this live crash test done in 2010
YouTube - MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi crashes in 2010 Italian GP

They've disabled embedding on the video. But it wasn't pretty. Rossi's injuries were to his legs mostly.

Not a 100% sure that the first video is an early prototype or not. The D-Air Street system seems to cover the entire torso. If they make it a reasonable price and works with their current gear, I may look into getting one. I like that there's no tether to the bike
