You need something like the link below, I believe it is a sata slot and that might work to make it into a usb drive.

Yeah you can use it, as stated above. Also if your laptop has connections for e-sata then you hook it up to those, but thats a rare feature on laptops. You'll likely need a sata to usb converter like the one mentioned above. You can get one almost anywhere online. Its the same tech that connects external hard drives up to a usb, the converter part on them is just built into the case the hd is mounted to.
