Default Any UK CBRF'ers have opinions about new EU laws?

on a few other forums, a lot of the UK members are pretty upset with the proposed EU regulations and there apparently have been some pretty big protests.

Law details:
-absolutely no modifications to your bike (even tire profiles)
-you have to wear bright flourescent vests (day glow)
-bikes that are older than 7 years would be illegal in cities because of emissions
-roadside checks for bikes, but not cars (requiring gov't fitted electronic diagnostic tools)
-ABS mandatory
-power regulations (of electric bikes)
-no custom bikes

EU proposes anti-tampering measures and ABS for all bikes by 2013 - Motorcycle news: Industry - Visordown

there are a ton more articles on it if you search for it, these are just a few i found.

i think its rediculous. i couldn't imagine having this in the states. i hope they don't enact any of those laws for you guys across the pond.

Why don't we just have a guy walking in front of the bike waving a red flag?

Surely this contravenes my human rights!

That was an actual law in the USA when the automobile was a new invention. The law also said if the car startled a horse, then the auto owner had to DISMANTLE it and hide it in the bushes until the horse and rider passed. How is that for crazy?

Nothing like a few people with power who hate bikes to make motorcycle riders pissed off. All of those are just plain insane. Makes me 100x happier to be in the states.

Let them try to pull something like that over here.

ya, i have a hard time even trying to imagine what any of those laws would be like. i pretty much break ever single rule ever day.

i have an '03 954 (older than 7 years)
its street-fightered (custom bike with modifications)
i wear a black leather jacket
no ABS
and no gov't issued equipment will ever go on any vehicle i own. (hell i wouldn't even get a car equipped with onstar because i wouldn't want any trackable device on a car - even if it would make me 'safer')
