Thanks. Our town has recently placed restrictions on owning pits. We have to pay an annual registration of $50, have them spayed or neutered (unless they regularly compete), keep them muzzled at all times in public and on no longer than a 6' leash, post pit bull signs at all entrances of our property, have a secured fence (not sure if there is a height requirement), be crated in a secure crate while in transit, and I had to have her microchipped. However, get this...this applies only to pit bulls *****and any dog that looks like a pit bull****** WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! They make a judgment call to determine that and it cannot be appealed. They are not identified by a vet but rather an agent of the city, who stands to make more money if they claim a dog is a pit or pit mix.

That being said, I would not hesitate at all if I felt either my pit (sweet as can be, though dumb as dogsh!t sometimes) or my wife's mutt ever hurt anyone out of anger to have them put down or kill them myself. I am quite confident, though, that it will never be a problem. Now, cats are a different story...neither likes cats and have killed several of my parents farm cats while visiting. I am not fond of that, but it is survival of the fittest I guess (fastest and smartest cats live to breed).

I'm a happy-go-lucky person, so naturally I'm a lab man myself. Pits are nice when they are brought up right, but many people breed them for fighting, and those people deserve to have their "man pods" removed.

Along with labs, I also like whippets (tall, skinny and long necks.......a lot like me. lol.)

But.......I've been known to love just about any dog I've come in contact with (except poodles. I hate poodles.)

i use to live near a pit breader and loved the dogs.. would love one but a full bread pit is illegal in my town... this sucks !
