Sox, Pats fan here.

The Sox should have got the deal done for Jermaine Dye! The Gagne signing was OK because they didn't have to give up too much but they need offense. JD Drew sucks at any price and he's being paid $14mil/yr. He should go to the plate with a mask and gun because he's committing robbery!

Also like the D-Backs, Suns, and the U of A.

Continuing my sports post, let me just say to fellow Celtics fans... calm down! Danny Change just rolled the dice and gambled the future of the franchise on Ray Allen & Garnett to save his job. It will be very interesting to see if three guys (25% of the team who take up more than 80% of the salary cap = pathetic bench) can all be satisfied with getting enough touches. Paul Pierce sharing the ball? Ray Allen playing D, on those injured ankles? I'll believe it when I see it. I hope I'm wrong, I'd like to see the C's get back to being championship contenders.

Then we've got the Bruins...[sm=shootshoot.gif]

i dont even watch hockey, but i watch enough to know how bad the bruins are....the C's where the same way, but these deals turn them into instant contenders.

the Dye Deal didnt get done because the white sox didnt accept the offer of Wily Mo Pena and Craig Hansen.
we will see how gagne does, he's very good, but i hope he's not a 2 month rental, i hope he resigns with us.

I'm sorry I have to chime in for the Packers here. I'm not a Packers fan but, The Bears going to the bowl? come on! They lost the only sort of reliable offense they had in Thomas Jones. Yes they have Muhammad and Hester is going to be a reciever this year but dont overlook the other piece of the passing offense, Rex Grossman. He was hit and miss and more often then not miss, last year. Hester is a hell of a returner but so is Dante Hall and he has been a WR for KC for quite some time and he has no where near the impact as a WR, than he does at kick returner. So I dont see him being the key to your guys offensive woes. The only thing that got you guys to the Super Bowl was your defense. You have a new defensive coordinator in Bob Babich and with the loss of Tank Johnson, your defense will have to work even harder to be at the level it was at last year. I think with Hesters success last year, very few people will kick the ball to him and very few teams will keep the ball inbounds on punts. Again I take Dante Hall as an example, he had one TREMENDOUS year and after that what was heard from him? Nothing, because teams realized his potential and found ways to neutralize him.

Anyways to get on Topic, I'm not much of a Baseball fan but I've been a 49ers fan since I was a little one and I think this year we made huge strides and should have a succesful season, we are going to face some tough competition this year in our division thou. I'm really looking forward to this years season.

I agree that getting rid of Jones was absolutly stupid on the Bears and cutting Tank Johnson wasn't very good either but the Bears will have a healthy Alex Brown. Brown is a really good player and he had alot of sacks before he got injured.

also don't forget the surging Mark Anderson....and as to offense...i don't know names right now...BUT...we got a new tight end who supposedly is rocking camp and, don't bash me, everyone is talking about how good Rex is looking...personally, i saw Rex out of Florida on the QB showdown after the bowl games and saw him throw a 60 yard strike to a 20 ft square....he's got a wickedly strong arm and if he can jsut get crisp and trust his arm, he'll be awesome...that is supposedly happening in camp...hell, i heard orton...yes i said orton, lost weight and is throwing better (i don't want to rely on that though)...

i personally feel that rex has a lot of the same characteristics as favre did....cannon for an arm and when he's on, it's like he has a frickin scope attached to him...problem i see with rex...he's short...the bears are a pocket protect O-line....for a short QB that means throwing over the line or trying to find gaps in the line to throw through...he got SO many passes knocked down last year or just flat out missed a receiver by trying to loft it over the line....one of two things need to happen, he needs to find a better way to find open passing lines, or the bears have to shift to a more pro-scramble O-line (which i don't think will happen)......favre is a tall **** and he throws lasers OVER the O-line....i long for a QB that could do that, BUT....rex is playing really well....

we can't forget although grossman's been in the league what, 3 years (or 4?), last year was his first real season...IMO, he was a rookie last year....although he had the most lowest QB rating games, he also had the most 100+ rating games...let him equalize (PLEASE this year) and he will be good....the offensive core only got better with the addition of Hester, and to quote an ESPN reporter "If you went to the Bears camp and knew nothing about the receivers and were asked to pick the all-pro wide out, you would pick 23!"....it still needs to be seen, but it sounds good right now...and with the addition of the new TE and having Clark, the TEs are going to get a lot of play! then you have berrian....moose, c'mon.....just accept it, the bears are going to be strong this year...don't hate!!! hahaha.....

do you really think that our defense is going to stray very far from the defensive scheme that the bears played last year??? if it aint broken, dont fix it, as far as tank johnson is concerned, good riddince, too much of a distraction for our team, we signed darwin walker from philly this offseason, who (if i can remember correctly) was fourth in DT in sacks last year...tank johnson WHO???
