RMR I've seen that same guy in my town on the goldwing wearing sandals, hawaiian t-shirt, and shorts... Unbelieveable. And those are the kinds of people that scourn at you when you drive by them shaking your head.

Thats kinda funny/stupid about the guyon the "gixxer" because yesterday I was at a friends house and thiskid shows up on a brand newgsx-r 600 in tennis shoes, t-shirt, backwards hat and sunglasses. I thought to myself that I would never actually see an exact example of a stereotype but therehe was.
When my buddy said if he had a bike he would alwayswear a helmet cause you don't know what could happen, theguy on the "gixxer" said "I wore mine untilthe 4th of July and haven't put it on since, once you ride without a helmet on you never want to put one on." What an idiot,it will besad when I'm postingnext week about how this kid died trying to pull a wheelie on the street.

Anyways, Iam sorryfor the woman who lost her life and that guy should be in jail for the rest of his....

P.S. The kid on the "gixxer" took off the GSX-R600 stickers off his bike (the rest of his bike is stock).
I bet you he rides around telling people its a 1000cc. IDIOT.

another thingi always think about when i see people without at least a helmet on... i don't know how many times i've been riding and have something hit my faceshield, like small rocks, huge bugs, you name it. i'd rather have my helmet stop those things than have a rock take out an eye because i was too stupid to wear a helmet.

All that other stuff prevents road rash, which is not deadly. I don't make judgements on those Harley guys because they're not out there in a Joe Rocket jacket/pants/gloves combo. Wounds heal and chicks dig scars. That's a fact.

I'm not saying to not wear your gear, hey, if you've got it and it makes ya feel warm and fuzzy inside to wear it, go for it. It will probably help, but it's not going to save your life... just so we're on the same page. I'm gonna be one of the few honest ones here and go ahead and admit that the only gear I wear is helmet, gloves and boots. They're not even riding specific boots. I always wear jeans because I hate shorts.I will however wear my mesh jacket if I'm riding the highway.
That's cool. I feel the same way, in that everyone has their own choice how they want to protect themselves. I don't leave home without my leather jacket on even if it's a 3minute trip, to each thier own. I do believe my armored leather jacket would help protect from breaking more bones in certain situations. (i could be wrong) Instead of hard body parts hitting something (usually road) the armor really helps take the hit. Plus it makes me warm and fuzzy and i like warm and fuzzy.

Plus i've taken a bird to the helmet, im sure if it hit my chest i would have been fine also. But a brain scoop helm or a tshirt, that bird could potentially take you down at 55mph.

That's funny because the first time I crashed with my helmet on I've worn one since...

(acutally I've always worn my helmet)

Condolences to the woman's family.

DIAF drunk drivers!

This guy's a real gem,... charges are: high-and-aggravated assault for allegedly pointing a gun at his ex-girlfriend and beating her before the wreck; driving under suspension; not having insurance; two counts of child endangerment; and a liquor violation...along with killing a woman on a motorcycle because he's stupid drunk. What really gets me is he's justthreatened his ex-girlfriend with a gun, beats her anddrives wasted withhis kids. Where do these people come from? First thing they ought to do it wack off his willie so he can't procreate anymore.

We had a drunk driver involved in an accident here a couple of weeks ago. He was spotted doing burnouts in a car park earlier to the accident, in which he lost control and swiped a power pole, killing one & injuring the other two passengers, the dead passenger was one of his two young children, his wife and other child survived. Turns out he was unlicensed as well, having been caught DOL before.
The whole point of riding gear is to protect you as much as possible, sure it can't do much if speed & metal are involved. But having said that, I have worked in rehabillitation with people that have had head trauma from bike stacks (cars to) & I know that a helmet can make the difference between a realitivly normal life & sitting in a wheel chair, dribbling in front of a mirror.
As for jackets and gloves, ask any doctor working in casuality about wot a short slide down the road at speed can do to skin & bone (face, fingers, knees & elbows, especially). Your talking about amputations, reconstuctive surgery & maybe months, some times years of pain.
Here its compulsory to wear a helmet, but many riders use that as the minimum & wear S.F.A protection, ok its their choice & if I want to be cynical, its these dick heads that put my insurance up every year, makes the politicians act on more stricter & punative road regs, and has Joe Citizen at the very least demanding we be banned & at worst thinking we don't give a rats, so why should they..
If you want to wear casual gear & sandles, buy a friggin push bike.

I have to agree 100% on the cruiser riders. Just the other day I saw a guy on a Goldwing, that was wearing shorts and tennis shoes- thats it! I passed him and all I could do is shake my head in disbelief.
we've got plenty of those around here. i saw an older man out on a Goldwing one day wearing sandals, bermuda shorts, and a hawaiian print button down shirt. and they look at US like we're irresponsible? sure he's probably seen his fair share of dumbasses on sportbikes, but i hate it that people assume that if one guy on a sportbike is irresponsible, then we ALL are (i can't remember what this fallacy is called but i know we talked about it in a business class once)
Stereotyping...Hope I spelled it correctly.

wow. i hope this guy doesnt post bail. That is too low. In cali those charges would bring more than 100000 in bail. also, he needs to do life for this, but will probably be out in ~5 years.
