Default AMA superbike championships w/few Hondas?

I went to the AMA superbike races this last weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. It was totally awesome and I might do my first track day there next weekend.

I was a little dissapointed to only see one Honda in the 600 calss and a couple in the 1000 class, and none of em were even close to leading. Where did my beloved honda's fall off? Throughout the 80's and 90's Hondas dominated racing. I hope they have plans to get back to the top of their game and quick!

What do you guys think about this?

Its not the lack of Honda still having awesome bikes, its the lack of support from Honda in AMA. Honda pulled all of its support from AMA in an effort to save money in a harsh economy. I believe kawasaki did the same. Racing is extremely expensive, so if one company is offering discounts and support for riding their bike, those are the bikes that are going to be ridden. It also didn't help that the AMA had a bunch of new regulations that made it harder for manufacturers to actually support their riders. The AMA tried to level the playing field, and made it less attractive for manufacturers to give support.

Honda was hurting a lot worse than most people know. They have so many different products other than bikes, they made cuts in places so they can still compete across the board with all of their products.

But I agree, I wish they would return on some level and get back in the action. I know Honda doesn't really get any feedback (R&D) from AMA like they do with Motogp, but they are loosing some advertising for sure.

I watched those races on TV. It was my first time actually sitting down to watch bike racing. Man, those guys must have huge stones. I also noticed the lack of Honda and was also disappointed, but also noticed the lack of kawi as well. The cut backs make sense though.
