Default Adding water to Car Battery?

So I purchase my 2008 Chrysler used with 36K back in May 2010...few month ago, won't crank up in the morning? So I jump it...runs fine for few weeks, then same thing, jump again & notice door wasn't closed properly...so no biggy right? Just today again won't crank up...jump again. Research a little and info said best to replace batter every 4 years? Then I check the battery, took off the cap and notice low on water, so I fill it up with water...I would say about 12-16oz worth...

So did I solve my problem?

Or do I still need a new battery?

It's been a long time since i purchase a car battery. Last time I purchase one cost $50, but damn...have you seen prices lately...it's $150+ some even $215...cheapest I may be able to find one is $100...chit everythIng is increasing...

You can charge it but it may not hold the charge. Take it to the parts store (AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc.) and have it load tested. If it fails, get a new one.

Some of the battery cells my be cactus, so even with a top up & recharge, its not holding enough zap. You do need to have it tested. Battery life can vary, but get over 5 YO & your lucky. That's why most batteries only have 24 month warranty.

lead has gotten silly expensive. Battery shops around here are paying $8 cash if you bring in any dead auto battery.

Off topic: it's ridiculous how price of everything gone up...I'm in the steel/fastener business...pre-200...a FCL of carbon steel goods may cost $20K max...now every FCL coming in to the US cost $35k up.

Raw material, Freight, related cost...all go up!!! But labor($/hr) seems to be same...this formula don't look right for our future.

It's just sad...
