Default battery water

My '95 is running out of battery water. When I top it up, it still manages to hold the charge so it's not a big problem and I suppose it's prolly due for a new battery. Might get a sealed maintenance free one.

Is there anything I should check to see if it's a symtom of a different problem?

Hey:

Check your regulator, overcharging can cause you to lose water, can't hurt to verify your in spec.

Good Luck

If you need to fill battery water more oftne than normal (maybe once per year) and it is not leaking, it might be a problem with the regulator/rectifier. Check the voltage at the battery with engine running at different revs. The voltage should not be more than about 14 Volts. Maintenance free batterys are real fine, I have that on both bikes and it feels good knowing there is not a lot of acid fog spraying around.

Edit: There was already an ingoing answer when I was writing mine, sorry.

Have checked mine once in 4000 miles and each cell had dipped by half and inch which I would consider as normal.

Yeh, I agree with the others, check the voltage coming back to you battery as to many volts will cause the cells to overheat, also have a look at your earth.
