Accident questions...
If you crash and file an insurance claim, your rates will go up, unless you have accident forgiveness. Unless an officer cites you for the crash, you will not get points on yourdriving record. Yes, your auto policy can be effected by a claimwith your motorcycle policy(It will go down as a At Fault Accident).
I was hit by a lady, her insurance company called my insurance company who called me next day, I told them not to do anything I will get everything from her company and do it myself so my rates don't go up.. they did anyways. Only thing they had on my record (progressive) was a not at fault accident.
Usually there is a limit of how much they will pay before your rates go up. Best way to find out, is call your insurance company, don't state who you are or your policy number and give them a "hypothetical situation" and the find out what will affect your rates.
I do know, that points typically don't affect your rates UNLESS the company has a reason to check your driving record. Meaning, if you sign up for new insurance, make a change to your policy or report an accident.
Again, the best way to find out, is to call the csr desk and find out.
