About to buy first bike!!
Guys have pretty much pegged it. Only thing I'd add is quit looking at 600rrs. You can prolly land a F4i in similar condition as the one you're talking for $2k - $3k less if you hunt around.
RojerLockless touched on the opinion that a 600rr is not a good bike for a new rider. I agree on that and personally think that its bad for a new rider to blow their entire wad on a used bike. Everything is too unpredictable, especially the rider's skills and reactions to tricky situations. The 600rr pulls harder and quicker than its predecessors, adding more variables a new rider has to contend with. And all used bikes have quirks that might escape all but a thorough inspection by a Honda certified mechanic (which nobody, not even dealerships, will pay for prior to sale).
It would suck hard to be grounded between paychecks

Going to check it out now, I'm not taking it unless it's for 3500 or less. I'll post picks when I get back and I'll keep my hold on it for now and let you guys decide when the pics are up. See yall in a few hours.

Wow. Just got back from the dealer and it turns out, the women I was talking to was a receptionist. But oh man do I have a story for everyone... and A LOT of pictures..Tell me what yall think!!
So my father and I left my house around 5 and hit the turnpike at approximately 5:14.. On my way home from work prior to our adventure, my truck ran out of coolant and the engine was overheating, but I got it home safely. Got home and put a gallon of anti-freeze into it and all seemed well, was at the halfway engine temp mark. Got onto the turnpike and low and behold about 20 minutes into the ride, my gauge heats up again? Wtf... We stop and put more anti-freeze into it, and it seems full, the gauge drops back to halfway and we continue, we get down one exit away from the dealership and the gauge heats to max, and we pull into a rest stop, dump another gallon and a half of anti-freeze into the engine to try and fill it (We assumed there was just a leak in the hose) We get going out of there when the gauge drops to about 1/4 temp, I bring it up to about 50mph leaving the rest station and my engine cuts off. I lay off the gas and try again.. Engine completely stalls out so I pull along the side of the road.. There was a leak in the anti-freeze reservoir, a leak into the engine-oil jacket.. My engine filled with anti-freeze and water, along with oil. WHAT THE FRUITCUPS. Horrible night so far, it's cold and ugh. Now after about a 1 hour diagnostic, we're going to replace the head gasket of the truck which seems to be the prime factor (187k miles and only a new tranny and some other things, but no new gaskets untill now). Anyway, we go get something to eat while we wait for my friend to pick me up, and my dads friend to bring the towtruck to take my truck home. My friend and I take the extra 5 minutes it took to get to the dealership and these are the results of this so called ''scratched, bent, and bike that needs alot of adjusting..:
**56k NO WAY**

Well it looks like it was dropped and not crashed. If it went down at any speed, the scratches would been longer I think. Looks like it went through the damn near mandatory n00b drop.
Not sure what you want us to say here. You're looking at a used bike.
P.S.
Gauging by your reaction (seems like you're disbelieving the description of the condition), you sure you ready for this?

WHY is a receptionist selling you & not a sales person? The bike has obviously been down & my guess was it was beat on pretty good by the looks of it.
You have a no go from me on this one! Find a better bike for your experience level (beginner) & start there.

I'm not a beginner. I'm more of a novice. Beat on pretty good? It looks like it was downed at around 5mph..? And the receptionist just did the inventory, it's also a HARLEY dealership with a jap bike?.. And no I found the damage to be less than described.. MUCH less, I thought the bike was near totaled.. It really just needs a new clutch cover..?......
rag muffin....now im a fan of the metal malitia but lets be real, plastered across the front screen of the bike? bro .. there are lots of signs telling you this is a rag... sorry, i hate giving bad news to good people....
god thats such a sexy color.
There are a couple things to consider, it was obviously dropped but I would say at a very low speed. He's got no mirrors on it I would guess when it fell it broke 1 of the mirrors (when I dropped mine in place it broke my mirror and gave it scratches identical to that) and he decided to just get rid of both of them.
Also I almost always associate stickers like that whether its on a car or a bike to mean that it was owned by someone somewhat young, maby even their first bike which would explain the n00b drop at low speed too. I know when I got mine the first thing I did was take the stickers off the guy had plastered all over the bike.
How are the tires on it? if they need to be replaced thats a couple hundred right there.
does it shift smoothly? I wouldn't even consider buying it until I was able to test ride it, and if you cant because of lack of license or something then have a good friend that knows what hes doing test it for you.
EDIT: are you dead set on buying an RR?
