ive been driving a friend of mines truck for the last few days ( 04 chevy single cab SWB) that has the 5.3 liter vortec in it and id forgotten how fun those engines are...i had an 04 but i had the 4.3 in mine...anyways this afternoon a mustang (v6) with 3 guys in it were messing with me on the highway ( speeding up to block me in and slowing down so i cant get behind them to pass) after about 1.5 miles i get aggravated and theres a long exit ramp up ahead so i bide my time and when i get to the ramp i put my foot in the firewall from about 25 mph (thats how slow the car in front of me was doing on I-35) and it barked the tires and jumped up and went..so i passed the car and got back on..mustang follows till i exit and starts mouthing and revving the engine saying lets race..i said not here on public streets..he goes fine i know a road thats closed at the end where theres no traffic..so we go and run...it was a sad day for ford...i burned out taking off and chirped in 2nd at about 80 i hit a puddle and had a moment of pucker factor but i got her back straight and was STILL ahead of the ford when i got shut off at 99...mustang never caught me. sorry for the long post but i miss having a truck=(

 

Ya, trucks are a lot of fun. I drive a '99 Chevy and it's pretty decent. I don't have the 5.3, but it's not a bad truck.

Reminds me of my parents Astro Van-rod. Only has the Vortec 4.3 V6, but it's supercharged for when we used to tow the boat around when I used to live there. No boat anymore, but a nice 350 horsepower to the rear wheels of a mini-van. Needless to say, it hauls *** and does the naught to 60 dance in about 6.5-ish seconds.......which is pretty damn fast for a van weighing in at almost 3 tons.

 

yeah im trying to tallk my friend into putting a FIPK from K&N and a 40 or 80 series Delta flow flowmaster and a whipple supercharger on in...we will see what she does.
