2012 BMW S1000RR Recall!
#12
every motor that i've ever put back together or built has loctite RED on the conrod bolts. i'm always kind of shocked that they don't put it on in the factory considering just about every other bolt on the bike has loctite on it, and when you considering the amount of force x the amount of rotation that a conrod is doing
but i can see being pretty pissed about it. i mean, if you grenade a motor, it's a bad day. and i would be mad if i just dropped all that coin on a new bike. having said that, most bikes have had recalls at some point or another. just take it in and have 'em fix it. at least you're not finding out after it's too late like i'm sure a few guys have.

Kuro, we got a couple Panigales in the other day... might wanna wait on handing her that check.
TBH, I should be mad, but I'm not. Every vehicle I've ever owned had some kind of issue come up. I snapped the crankshaft in half on my Hyo 250 (had to pay for a new crank + labor before selling it, also, don't redline a Hyosung GT250R in every gear all the time), I high-sided my R1 (waited a couple weeks being physically immobile without the use of a rolling computer chair and a month longer for the bike to be fixed), and my RC51's wiring harness was a hack job and the power commander burned out (had to buy a new sub-harness + power commander, PAIR block off plates came loose and valve cover gaskets kept popping)... and that's just the bikes.
I'm happy just because I don't have to dig into my pockets for this one. It's nice having a warranty and at the end of the day... any day being able to ride is a great day and my bike hasn't let up yet.

Sorry, the ducati is massively overpriced. 16k otd for a 0 mile, monster bike like Yolie is fine. $27k for a led dash, electronic suspension and (maybe) slightly bigger monster is ridiculous.
Plus I dont like its looks. Nor the idea of buying a bike whose engine has been that overtuned on the first run. Sure, the s1k might throw a rod due to a manufacturing error. But who knows if the Panigale will go thermonuclear because of a design flaw
