2012 BMW S1000RR Recall!
Not sure which section to place this is, so I'm putting it in the most visited section. Mods feel free to move it.

The root of the issue is because a robot fell out of torque spec, thus the con-rod hardware were 30ft/lbs lower than supposed to be.

BMW dealers will replace connecting rod bolts on recalled units and apply a thread locking agent to correct the problem.

2800+ miles since March and still running strong on my 2012. The only problem I really have is keeping the speed down to a reasonable level. This recall kinda worked out as I'm about due for my second oil change. Having taken a few of the fairings off and done a bit of modding I've noticed the build quality is actually pretty good... not Honda good, but good none the less.

Yeah, Yolie isn't affected. She's a 2011. raylee has to watch the rpms 
Watching the owners' reactions on another forum, it becomes pretty easy to tell the difference between the Riders (like raylee) vs the Starbucks Squids. Granted, the situation sucks for 2012 owners. But some guys are acting like they were told the seats were laced with Ebola, they jumped off so fast. And are demanding newly assembled engines or whole new bikes manufactured after the affected dates. Because their bikes will no longer be "virgins". And granted we all bang on the "stealership" service dept. But many of the BMW service depts have at least 1 BMW Master Tech. And it's not like they're going to have to pay his hourly rate in this
If more bad news comes back about Yolie, forcing them to total her my plan is to walk the 100' or so from the service dept to my salesperson, hand her the insurance check and ask "How soon will y'all be done tinkering with my new 2012?". The s1000rr is still entirely too sweet to pass up for the price. And it's not like this is the result of a design flaw ("Oops, I guess we shouldn't have shaved 8 oz of weight in the conrods using that lighter metal")
