anyone ever think about going through a high risk insurance agent???

thats what i did for my car. he shops around for me, and finds me the BEST deal he can. he deals with over 40 insurance companies. right now i pay $143 a month for full coverage on my 2000 Honda Civic Si...and thats with about 26 tickets on my record since i was 16. going through a high risk agency was the best decision i ever made. American family wanted $400 a month from me alone!

so for all of you getting raped by insurance agents, check your phone book for a high risk agent. its your best bet.

They are the small firm guys that do a bunch of quotes from many diffrent insurance companies to find the cheapest rate available. At least that's what the guy I work with does. These quoted companies stick with "high risk" people because they are covering the people that the big names won't "state farm, american family..."

Just get out your yellowbook and start calling away to see who will work with ya, I'm getting in touch with my guy today just because this damn thread has me in a guilt trip.

Great News! I was just quoted at $296.32 for liability coverage on both my F3 & F4i!!! Without this thread, I would never have bothered looking into it again.

i realy wanted a 07 600rr and sevral factors made me turn towrds used insted. a big one was insruance. i have a clean driving record and am 17 taken the msf. on a 07 with the minimal liablity and property damage, uninsured coverage, comp, collision it was about 180 a month at progressive. they were the cheapest of the few places that will even insure a 17 year. i was thinking dont get collision becuase thats where most of the cost came from, but i dont feal like riding around on a 8500 dollar bike and something small happen like a lowside and my bike get smashed by a car. so insted i am going with a 04 rr with minimal coverage at like 40 dollars a month. makes me very angry that i can not ride a bike i want and can afford becuase i dont want to but over 2000 a year out for insurance

Good move! Hopefully you'll never need it, but God forbid some little kid runs out between parked cars in front of you and you can't stop, you could be looking at losing your house, your vehicles, any money you have in the bank, and everything else you own. And if you're 18 or under, they could go after your parents' assets too.

Wish I could save like this Fishfryer. In my life, I have never made more than $7/hr. My savings get blown away when rent and utilities are due. I live off a really small budget and luxuries such as health insurance or entertainment are WAY out my price range. I have no savings, 401K, stocks, bonds, or IRA's... pretty much nothing. It is great to hear that you had the chance to do save like this.
I have a 97 F3 and I pay $120/yr (32 single male) for just liability. The value of the bike ($1k maybe) and the fact there is no lean against the bike led me to go with this route. To insure it with full coverage would be ridiculous because I would get next to nothing back when I would have paid well over $1k in premiums. Try to pay for the bike in full and look into bikes that are older instead of a new(er) RR. This will help to lower your premium because of the age of the bike and you won't need full coverage.
