RE: 140hp 2006 yamaha r6
i dont know if i believe 140hp for the r6, its redline gets a fat bump up to 17,500 which is freakin crazy but i dont think it finds 30 hp in those 2000 rpms. with higher rpms it will make signifigant more hp but more likely to the tune of 115 at the wheel. thats still a ton of hp for a 600, but that comes with an even higher powerband which sucks cause 600s already require lots o shifting to go quick. either way it should be interesting to find out...17,500 rpm, damn

If you read the article closely they were basing the BHP off a formula they use based of the 17,500 RPM. That BHP number was at the crank not at the rear wheel. Yamaha wouldn't disclose the HP at the press release. I think those who seen the Cycle World and did just that....read the cover. Read the full article and you would have read that the magazine themselves came up with that number. It's what they do so you can go buy it and they have your money. Then can come back and say " Oh the R6 numbers were off it only makes 115hp and it still dont ride better than the RR" JEEEEZZZZZ[:@][sm=violin.gif]

I think everyone is missing a major advancement (in the eyes of some) that the new R6 is going to come with Throttle by Wire throttle control. No more throttle cables, increasing response and cpu management. If any of you have watched Faster, Colin Edwards talks about the downsides of Throttle by Wire but the technology might be there now. More horsepower is great, but it doesn't matter if you don't have the skill to ride it. My 2 cents.
