wind storms and sand
yesterday i got up for my first day back at the university of texas at el paso and got on my bike about 8 am to start making my way to school. the previous day we had some pretty windy weather down here in el paso and i really didnt think much of it cause i rode home from work in it. low and behold i was at a stop sign turning right when i hit a patch of wind blown dirt. sent me and the bike to the floor. the only damage the bike suffered was a bent brake lever and a small scratch on the exhaust. the $50 frame sliders i bought really helped the bike! i got a pretty good brusie on my hip, but i am ok. what a way to start off the school year. just be careful out on your roads and watch out for dirt even at 2 mph a small patch of dirt can send your back tire into a slide. every one ride safe this year and watch the roads.

sorry to hear about your spill. glad you and your bike are okay for the most part though! i was at a stop light the other day and it was WINDY... about 45-50mph gusts. all of a sudden the wind shifted and i almost fell over sitting at the light... lol. phew! that would have been embarrassing!

yea i felt like a complete idiot. the worst part was that no one stopped to help me pick up the bike. lifting 380 lbs can be some what difficult once you have just fallen and are a little shaken up. i just watched about 10 cars roll by me looking and staring like "what an idiot" LOL it was kinda funny now that i think about it.

Sorry to hear about your fall; glad to hear that you and the bike are ok. That happened to me a few years ago. Big gust of wind as I was coming to a stop and got knocked over. Thing is, I had a passenger and my hand got stuck between the the throttle and brake lever. Since you're in El Paso, you should try to come out to track day weekend on 1/28-1/29 at Arroyo Seco near Deming, New Mexico.
