Default newbie...help me!!!

hey everybody,

i just moved down here to ana, ohio. i work on the Honda engine plant as an engineer, found out about the discount we get, 10% off, and so i went to the local store and saw a '06 black cbr600RR.

i'm totally in love

never even ridden a bike but i've wanted one for awhile. i don't want to start smaller b/c i know i'll get bored quick.

it was $9k for that new bike at the store, which is out of my price range...(i just bought a new trans am and added a boat load of mods)

I want the new CBR-RR, is there any difference in the years that i should know about? i think someone said they came out in 2003? But of course, i want the best one there is, or if there were problems some years, i want to know about it

how much can i expect to pay for a used bike? i'd like to have a new one but its out of my range i have a feeling...unless i can finance it forever and have insanely low monely payments lol

so help me out

i'm dying for a black one

pro's and con's of the bike...help!

I think the 03-04 are the same and there isn't much changed to the 05-06 models. I think the 600rr gets a major update in 07. Hopefully someone else will correct me if I'm wrong. Also for a fisrt bike definately buy 2nd hand as you will most likely drop it at some stage

Hello and welcome to the forum. The price range for the 03 will be around the mid 4500 and you go up from there. I have not heard of anything wrong with any year. As they get new... they get a little lighter and fast, but not anything to really brag about. The 03 and 04 are the same, as is the 05 and 06. You will love any year. Honda usually has very low payments so if you're really looking for a new one... click here.

cool thanks guys

i'm debating a used one since its cheaper, and I can do body work easily

but since i work for honda, i'm sure i could get a better deal than the 7.9% (WOAH!) rate

$30 is pretty cheap though.....

hurm

opinions?

Hell... do like a kid at my work did.... bought a new bike with the low payment with interest for 12 months... He made several over payments to get the principal down and 11 months later picked up a credit card with 0% for 12 months on balance transfers. It is a Honda credit card... so he transferred it. I haven't seen him, but I'm sure he did the same after his 12 months were up again. That is if he didn't already pay it off.

yeah. the 0% balance transfer gimmick is something that alot of the credit card companies do to get new accounts. but if the balance is not payed for after the time limit expires, you get hit with ALL the interest that you would have gotten if there was no 0% period. ouch. besides (like don said) you can then transfer the balance over to another card or then get a loan for the remaining amount. i had a friend that did this for the entire time he was in college and for a few years after till it was paid for. didn't even pay a penny in interest. so go ahead. use and abuse the system!

oh. welcome to the site.
