Wife bought me a bike
Welcome, once you ride around on the bike you will get comfortable on it. You weren't comfortable launching the RM off of jumps when you first started riding dirt bikes either I'm sure.
Feel free to share pictures with the forum of your bike and the lovely woman who got it for you. We love sharing pictures!

Wife got the bike for 1000 bucks, included gloves helmet and Alpinestar jacket. Headlight unit is about 300 bucks, so I think she got a good deal. Now the trouble is, how I am I gonna get her a bday gift that is so cool
take her for a ride followed by a nice romantic dinner.
Well...if she got you a bike, she's looking for excitement! I say buy her a skydive! Most skydiving centers offer a tandem jump for a reasonable price. Make it a date & you go too!
She sounds like a keeper.
Having previous bike experience is a plus. As the others have said, the bike won't handle the way you've described it (big, heavy, menacing) once you're rolling. I'm 5-5ish and find no problem at all controlling the bike (even as a first time rider). With a short leg reach, the starts and stops were a bit of a challenge, but I continue to improve and find them easier now. Do the rider course, pick your time and place to practice, and learn at a pace you're comfortable with. Enjoy your bike and your great wife.
