Default Why are bikes made to accomodate the tall?

I’m looking to get a 600cc sports bike, whether it be the r6, gsxr600, or the cbr600, and all of them that I sit on are too high off the ground, I’m only 5’5” and I can only get my toes on the ground, and I’m not interested in any other types of bikes. I was told they can be lowered either 1 or 3 inches, but I also heard that lowering the bike really compromises the handling and it can cause damage and problems with the bike, so I’m not really up for getting a bike lowered. I was also told I could get the seat reupholstered and take an inch of padding out to get me lower to the ground. Does anyone have any other solution so I can at least get the ***** of my feet on the ground?

Hello & Welcome!!

I'm 5'2" and ride an F4i (not lowered). You have 3 inches on me to be complaining - LOL! The height takes some getting used to. I wouldn't lower the bike, but others have different opinions. The handling, riding, etc. just doesn't work for me. Most are not totally flat footed and that is ok, just balance your bike on one leg. What are you looking to get?

Let's be a man about it.when you ride your mountain bike don't you have to swing your but off the bike.you have been this tall for how long? surely you have figured out ways to compensate. Not tring to be mean but the bikes are a certain height for a reason.Work with the bike.

I'm 5'6" and ride an F4i that's not lowered and its fine. Being on my tiptoes at a stop light, or even leaning slightly to one side, isn't a problem just a little getting used to. I wouldn't take any padding out of the seat either since most are already pretty hard.

Have you rode these bikes before and know that it is a problem? Or have you just sat on one sitting in a showroom?

Well the consensus seems to be that I will have no problem on my toes, guess everyones right and I'll just get used to it. Thanx everyone. And I'm on the fence between the gsxr600 and the cbr600, I always thought the gsxr looked a lil better than the cbr, but ive alwasy been told u cant beat a honda.

Wow 5' 2" and riding is impressive. I am 5' 8" and I dont even sit flat footed. But I do the same as specialk I only put 2 feet down when I am pushing my bike, at a stop light I have one foot down, thats what most people do.
