Sounds retarded but...
I'm still waitin' on takin' the MSF course and my buddies that told me for weeks that they'd help "teach me to ride" aren't really teaching me to ride. Actually, it's more like they're driving 40 mph over the speed limit and leavin' me WAY behind!
So here's the question...how far can I lean this thing without it slidin' out from under me? I'm not really sure what the heck I'm doin' but I noticed that I don't really lean into turns. Any suggestions on how to get a feel for it? Just lean until it drops and hope for the best? Really...I'm open for suggestions here!

yeah i wouldn't try and just lean it and hope for the best.. but you will get a feel for it by riding more and just get comfortable with the bike...but not too comfortable with it [sm=gears.gif] that gets you tickets!
oh yeah and wear full gear bro your skin will appreciate it!!

depends a lot on your tires, and the road. watch for dirt, wet spots, gravel, and make sure you have very good tires. With a good clean road, and good tires, the bike will lean till your peg touches the ground, mabey farther if you didnt have a foot peg, though I doubt you will ever need to lean that far.

so your buddies are riding 40 over and leaving you WAY behind? nice.
yeah the bike will lean way over... but it'll take some time to get comfortable doing it. best way to get a feel for it is to practice. find an empty lot and do figure 8's. good luck and be careful

In the beginning, going slow was harder than going fast. With that said, be careful riding with better/faster riders. They will enter turns at speeds that you won't be able to handle yet or they will brake harder than you can yet. But in answer to your question, you won't ever be able to outride your bike, as long as the road is clean, the bike will lean over farther than you think, you'll learn to trust it with time.

Welcome to the board! Yeah I'm in the same situation as you as far as learning to trust the leans, except I dont have anyone to ride with! [8D]
I just been taking it slow, I took the basic MSF class, it was a good class and will teach you a lot but besides swerving they didn't get too much into leaning or taking curves/twisties fast. I'm not sure if the advanced class does, but I plan on looking into it. For now I'm waiting for my friend who I took the class with to get a bike!
