Saying hello plus I have a quick question/problem
Hi all,
I just got my bike out on the road for the first time today so I thought I'd officially say hello. I picked up a red/black '01 CBR600 F4i last Nov. and it went straight into storage for the winter. I got a pretty good deal on it...'01, mint condition, 6000mi for $4300.
I do have one question however. I was just lookin at the bike and noticed that the coolant reservoir seems to be empty. there are two lines on the tank which I assume are a max/min but when the bike is upright there is no visible fluid. I'm guessing thats not normal...what kind of coolant does the bike take? I didn't get a manual.
Thanks.

Clymer 1999-2006 CBR-600 F4I shop manual page 393 says:
Coolant Type: Honda HP coolant or equivalent*
* footnote reads: Use a high quality ethylene glycol coolant that does not contain silicate inhibitors as they can cause premature wear to the water pump seals and cause blockage of radioator passages.
Page 92 says:
...Pro Honda HP Coolant is ready to use 50:50 antifreeze/purified, de-ionized water coolant blend. If mixing antifreeze and water use a 50:50 mixture of distilled water and anitifreeze...
Then it runs on to give the same footnote warning as described above.
Since you're adding coolant--maybe it's a good opportunity to flush the system?[sm=drlove.gif]
Hope this helps.

right, not normal!! lol. check under the REAR SEAT for the owners manual. they are basically useless anyway tho. go 50/50 use DISTILLED WATER, not tap water!!! (so the" MANUAL" says) unless you live somewhere where it is cold/freezing ALL the time. good luck, and welcome!
