ONE SICK NOOB!
I JUST PURCHASED A 2006 CBR600RR THIS PAST SATURDAY MORNING. AFTER WORKING IN THE YARD ALL AFTERNOON, I DECIDED TO JUMP ON AND HAVE SOME FUN WITH MY BRAND NEW BIKE. I WAS REALLY EXHAUSTED FROM WORKING IN THE SUN BUT DECIDED TO RIDE ANYWAY. BIG MISTAKE!! BEING TOTALLY NEW TO STREET BIKES COMBINED WITH SHEER EXHAUSTION LANDED ME IN A DITCH JUST 2 MILES AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS RUNNING 54 MPH, WENT AROUND A SHARP TURN, BUT NEVER MADE IT AROUND. I WENT STRAIGHT INTO THE DITCH. I ONLY HAD THE BIKE 6 HOURS! IT HAS 23 MILES ON IT! I WAS ONE SICK S.O.B.! MY WALLET SUFFERED MORE THAN ANYTHING. DAMAGE=$5,000. ONLY A FEW SCRATCHES FOR ME THOUGH. THANK GOODNESS FOR INSURANCE.

reminds me of my neighbor. bought her 18 year old son a bike. first weekend he had it he was pulling in his driveway a little too fast and ran into his own truck. so yeah, he damaged BOTH vehicles at the same time.
have you taken the msf course yet? if not, take it. glad you weren't hurt too bad.
oh, welcome to the forum!

23 miles isn't long enough to have your baby a virgin, but even more so, 23 miles isn't long enough to learn how to push your bike over and trust it. I'm at 2700 miles and it is only just starting to happen for me. My '8mph gravel slide' happened at 501 miles because I didn't trust the bike in mid turn and looked away from where I was going and tried to slow instead of pushing and turning harder. Needless to say I know where you are coming from, like everyone says, 'you can't outride the bike'.
At least you are OK. Thank god you didn't cross into oncoming traffic and get crushed.

yea, you really should learn on something much much smaller (and cheaper) but nobody wants to do that anymore. motorcycles will kick your *** if you don't know what you're doing lol. its easy to get in waaaay over your head, and very very quickly. you really should break yourself in, learn what it takes to turn the bike in any particular turn (watch your speed!) if you come in a little too fast, and you cant lean the bike yet, momentum will handle your ***. good to hear you weren't hurt though, that's what's important. take it easy, and congrats on the bike, or whats still left of it :-p
