Default noob with $2000-4000

Hi... iv been wanting a bike for the longest time... and now i can spend around 2000-4000 tops on a bike , im a noob when it comes to sports bikes. i have ridding my dads cruiser *v-star 1100* every now and then and am good with it. thats about it

what i want to do is... get a 600cc , i will be doing plenty of commuting , long trips , few spirited rides everynow and then so i want power when i ask for it.... i dont want anything unconfortable , not something that makes my wrists hurt after 30min... after a little experiance i might hit the track once in a blue moon.

so far the bikes on my list are

yamaha yzf600r thundercat *so far this is winning*
cbrf4 or f3 or f4i if i can find one in the price range.
triumph daytona 600 if i can find one in the price range
triumph tt600 if i can find one in the price range
and one of the ninjas *not realy into it.. but i might get one if it has everything i need*

so far i seem to love everything about the yamaha yzf600r its supposed to be the most confortable 600 in the class... only thing holding me back is .. that it might be a little outdated.... but so far so good. and it has only around 85-90hp i guess thats more than enough..

some people at the yamaha forums have told me to consider a honda cbr600... so im over here asking for some suggestions.

the triumph has been something that always appealed to me since it has the "no one else has it " factor... and i personaly love it... only if it availble and not rare... and cheap.

help me out guys.

Triumph is like a Ducati (not really). I would buy a good used F4-F4i if it were my money, although the YZF is nice too. I wouldnt say it's outdated. It isnt a current spec 600 but with a good rider is PLENTY fast to keep up. It would be a great learning bike. I like the looks of the black/silver one.

Figure out what you'll need for helmet, boots, gloves, jacket and pants. What's left is your bike budget, including first year's insurance.

This time of year you can get a nice F3 for $2500, maybe a little more for an F4. I've used my F3 for everything except loading it with a tent and sleeping bag for multi-day touring, and that's going to happen next summer.

Comfort is subjective - the bike that fits me just right might not fit you, but I'd say the older banana-seat CBRs are very comfortable for sport bikes.

+1 , get and F3 around 2500-3000 and spend the rest on gear. It alot more nipple bike than the 600r thundercat. My friend has one and hates it. I had an F3 as my first bike, it was great. Plenty of power, comfortable, and great in the corners.

I tend to agree with the guys who say the "F" series. I own F4, and it has been such a great bike. Power, handling, looks, easily upgradable, more comfortable than the R and RR series, and reliable. On full out runs with the boys, she gets 43 mpg.

Yes it's carburated, blah blah. Two distinct differences (advantages?) the F4 has over the previous F models is the aluminum frame (which helps a lot when it comes to weight savings), and the 180 rear tire (opposed to a 160). Side points, but things to keep in mind.

My vote would be and F4 or an F4i. The same exact bikes, just fuel injection and 5 more ponies in the F4i.

Any more qusetions, I am happy to help!

ok... seriously.... why exactly are you guys telling me to get an f3 , f4 ,f4i instead of the yzf600r?..... i want good hardcore reasons..... not " if it were up to me " stuff...

so far... all i got is

alluminum frame , 180tire

and i have to say... isint the extra weight on the yzf better for making it stable on the highway?..... and the bigger tire... doesnt it make it harder to switch lean directions?

---

remmeber guys... this will be my first bike.. that i will use for learning.
