Hey guys...i finally registered here, even though i've been hanging around since the Fall. I was thinking about gettting an F4i for a while as it seemed to be just what i wanted in a bike, so of course i lurked about for a bit and learned all i could. But i actually wound up buying a 919 instead. It was a great bike, but after buying a CBR with the intent of reselling it, i fell in love and just couldn't get rid of it. These bikes are just so fun and nimble and easy to ride. The light weight feel of it is what really got me. Anyways, i just sold the 919 to a friend of mine and was sorry to see it go, but with buying my first house and our first kid on the way (it's a boy! ) i just can't do more than one bike at a time right now. Ah well.

I had a VF750 for a year or so, an old Yamaha Seca 650 before that. I learned on the 650 when i was 19, then found the VF and couldn't resist it's looks and sporty style. That was a real fun bike, and quite a looker, too. But I sold it after i got married, thinking i had done my whole 'bike riding thing' and that it was out of my system. That was, until two years later when a friend of mine bought an old Katana and i made the mistake of riding it again...just for fun. But after that i couldn't get it out of my head...i wanted another bike. But at the age of 25 i can finally afford something a bit newer...like the '01 F4i.

So here i am with the CBR and i'm absolutely loving it. Just put some new tires on it yesterday (Pirelli Diablos), and have started fiddling with the suspension. (Somehow when they put the tires on they adjusted the rear compression to full hard. That, combined with the rear preload already being set to full firm really gave me a headache after a half hour of riding...[>:] ). I have a '93 RX7 that i autocross and take to the track occasionally...been into cars longer than bikes, actually. But i love it all...the driving/riding, as well as the working and messing with them.

Welcome...and I'm so glad to hear your wife let you keep at least one of the bikes. I just can't believe when I hear guys say that their wives made them get rid of them once they got married...That's Crap.
I started on a Ninja 250 and gotso bored so quickly. My husband has a 2006 Ninja ZX6R and I have a 2001 CBR 600 F4i Silver/Black(which he surprised me with at Christmas...red bows on it and everything)...

Yeah, I thought for a while I might buy the 919 but found a smokin' deal on an F4i. How's the acceleration of that vs. your F4i?

 

I agree with that. No...my girl was understanding. She never asked me to sell my bike. We used to ride it on dates and stuff...she liked it a little, but never really got into it. It was all my decision and even though she asked me if that's what i really wanted to do, she never tried to talk me out of it. But I don't think i would have married someone who would make me give up something i loved in the first place.

The acceleration of the 919 is noticeably stronger all over the place. I think the 919 has something like 65ft/lb (F4i's about 43) and it's all in by 2500rpm or something like that. If i were going to be racing anyone on the street i would definately take the 919 over the F4i any day. The 600cc is a lot of fun, but you'd better downshift at least a couple of times to get it in the sweet spot, whereas the 919 could pull from most any gear. It just depends on what you want from a bike. Even though i picked the F4i, i would definately recommend the 919 to anyone...especially if you plan on being on the bike more than an hour or two at a time.
