NVP,
Welcome.
I myself am a former Marine and spent August of 2001 - August of 2002 at Camp Foster.
Which camp are you stationed on?
I was still a fan of bikes back then but was more interested in the tuner cars they had over there. They had a '96 R33 GT-R on a used lot over there for the equivalent of $7000. I wanted to buy it and bring it back to the states so bad.

I loved Oki! Go have some CoCos for me!
I've eaten there too! IIRC they have 'heat' levels of their curry and lvl 10 would light you up!

I actually liked the island. What I didn't like was the 'punish everyone for the mistakes of the few' mentality of the douche bag unit leaders over there.
I joined late (25) and went over there as a Corporal at 29, and became Sgt 4 months before my first enlistment was over.
Yet, unless you were a Staff NCO, you couldn't get a license over there. This was because a few NCOs and non NCOs had gotten DUIs in the few years before. I got a major who I was working under on temp duty at another base there to sign off a justification for me to get a license.

The delinquency of a few have really made it tough there. More than the DUI's have caused that too. The stories in the media did not help at all.

I agree that the actions of few cause the punishment for all lol. That's the name of the Marine corps....

I dated a Filipino girl once back in the day. Even took her to the Ball. She was wild!

Got a question for you. How is that RB25DET holding up in it? Do they have any intrinsic mechanical or reliability issues? I've heard they can be.
I have a '73 Datsun 240Z that I'm going to do an engine swap to in the future sometime. If I don't put an L28ET, from an 83 280zx turbo, in it, I'd like to put an RB25DET in it.
