New to the site/Need some advice
Well, where do I start? Name is Jason, 26yo and live in Los Angeles, CA. New to the bike world. Raised around bikes, rode dirt until I was about 13, then was more focused on sports and quit riding. Rode again over Thanksgiving break and it makes me want my own bike. I rode my dads BULKY 05 BMW650 and it all came back to me.. well, no quite all of it. His bike is very high and just different then the sportsbikes of today.
Fast foward to today. I went into a Honda Dealership in Santa Monica and checked out a couple of bikes.
Liked the 06 Honda CBR 600F4i and right now, you can get them for $99/month with 0 down at 36months(9% APR). (After 36 months, interest goes up too around 12%APR)
Also sat on the 1000RR and a 600RR.. I liked all of the bikes but my question is this.
It will be my first bike. I am VERY novice rider but know I can handle the bike. I am a little worried about the power that the 1000 pushes out, but weary of the size of the 600s. I am 6' 220lbs and would be riding the bike on the weekends and to go to soccer during the week (play 35 miles from my house one way. )
I guess my question is, I need help as to which bike you guys/gals think I should get. The money is not really the issue as is the right bike for me. Any information will help. Good and bad about each bike will help me with my decision.
Right now, the order I like is:
SBR 600RR
SBR 1000RR
CBR 600 F4i (I really don't like the one piece seat on this bike)
Thank you

Welcome to the forum and back to the world of bikes.
You are the same size as me and I have the 600RR 05 Black and Tribal.
As for the main difference in the F4i and 600RR, you're looking at comfort. The RR, of course, has more a race bike look and feel, but the F4i is no slacker either.
The liter bike (1000RR)... will have more power, but also brings higher insurance, more weight and the down fall of more power that you may not need.
There's not a lot of places on the streets where you can use all of the power of the 600's safely so that makes even less for the 1000RR.
Another thought is that the 2007 600RR will have close to 20 more HP's then the 05 and 06, that's close to 120HP. That should be enough to make you happy.

I am 6'2' 210lbs and ride a 600 f4i with ease. I might stay away from the 1000, I learned on a 1000cc bike and get just as much excitment out of my current 600 they pack plenty of punch even for decent size gents like ourselves.
Between the rr and f4i its really a matter of how much comfort you want. Its not too drastic but the f4i will provide you with some more upright handelbars and comfort while the rr will be more agressive,
either way you'll have a blast, enjoy!

I'm about the same size as you, minus a couple of pounds =P
Anyways, i ride a 05 600rr. And i love it. It's a good bike which packs alot of power. I personally wouldnt recommend starting on a 1000cc bike. Not only because of all the horror stories i hear about newbies on them, but just because they dont make ideal starter bikes. They're really really fast and they can easily catch you off guard if you dont know how to handle the power. And just because the 1000rr is too fast for beginners, doesnt make the 600rr any more suitable. Both bikes will send you flying down the street at 80mph in 2nd or 3rd gear EASILY with a slight twist of the wrist. So dont underestimate these things.
But hey, i'm not one to tell you which bike to get. I'm pretty sure that if you were bent on getting a bike, we will have little power in changing your decision. Just make sure to ride within your limitations and be safe..
