Hey guys,
I live in Kansas City, MO. I sold my first bike (Suzuki GS500) this past winter because I knew I would be getting a new bike this spring/summer. I really think the CBR600 is the bike I want. Right now I'm looking at an '08 at a powersports dealer. Being new to Honda, is there anything I should know about the 2008 models when looking to purchase one? They've got some 09s and 11s as well. The one I'm leaning toward is the 08 with the graffiti black paint. It has 8800 miles and they have it listed for $7988. According to the "sticker" it says it has no modifications from stock. Didn't appear to have any scratches, but I didn't thoroughly inspect it, and it was indoors. Anyway, I look forward to becoming part of the community here, no matter which Honda I end up with.

The black graffiti 600 is a nice looking bike. Hopefully some 600 owners will have an opinion on the '08 model and price, but from what I've read they are a solid bike.

Good luck with the bike. The 08 600rr doesn't seem to have any serious problems, other that a smile that's hard to get off after riding it.

Thanks for the welcome! Hattr, those links were very helpful, I appreciate you digging them up for me. It's been freezing here the past couple days, so that has stalled out my search for a bit. It's supposed to warm back up next week. I went to the dealer on Tuesday and looked at the bike again. They don't allow test drives (which must be pretty common from the looks they gave me when I asked) and I asked them what happens if I drive off and just hate everything about it. They just shrugged their shoulders and said once I drive it off it's mine. I guess I'm just kind of nervous about getting hosed with a lemon. I'm sure it's fine. Thanks again for the welcome, and I'll keep you guys updated when I make my purchase.

 

No test drives is very unusual (in my experience). Especially from a dealer.
I'm normally asked to leave my license with them and need to sign a release.
They would never get anything out the door without allowing test rides, imo.

With that attitude, I would start looking elsewhere. After, letting them know
why they have lost your business. It never hurts to also point out, that you
plan on telling everyone you know about your negative experience, as well.

Another valid tactic, ask to see the manager.
Point out to him/her the rudeness you have experienced.
Demand to know what they will do about it.

Don't be afraid to be loudly vocal, within hearing of other customers,
if you feel you have been legitimately wronged.

As a customer, keep in mind the sales staff are NOT your friend(s).
This is an adversarial role, you need to be aggressive.
They need your business, not vice-versa.
If you are constitutionally unable to play this role,
you might ask a friend/family member to shop with you.

Haha, no I'm not really afraid to get vocal with them. They weren't really being rude or anything, just the way they responded made it sound like they didn't get that question a lot. When I go back in I'll let them know that I'm not buying it without being able to test drive it. I'm sure they will let me. If not, I can find somewhere else to go.
