Just want to say I'm a proud new owner of a 02 F4i with only 1600 miles. The bike looks absolutely brand new and runs great. I was wondering since it sat more than it was on the rode, what should I look out for?? Also there is a really thick residue that looks like white grease on the side of the chain and the previous owner said it's chain lube from a few years ago. Is that normal? I thought chain lube was clear? I definitely have alot to learn about this bike and so far this site seems to be great!
They have chain cleaner at bike store. wipe off the excess grim on sprockets. DO NOT do this with engine on. Apply new lube. I do this without the stand but it will be easier if you have the stand
Welcome to the CBRForum deegaw11. An '02 w/ only 1600 mi is like brand new! Congrats.
I would change out all fluids. Oil & oil filter change, flush & fill radiatior/overflow, change brake fluid. Also, even though its low miles but been sitting, I'd check the air filter & change if necessary.
Too, check the condition of the tires. How old are they? They could have some dry-rot if they are old. While they might look like they have good tread, they may need to be replaced.
While it sounds like the chain has quite a bit of lube on it, personally, I would clean the chain & re-lube it (since it sounds its been on there for a long period of time). There are many varieties of chain lube...some clear, some white-ish, etc. Any good quality chain lube will be fine.
Again, congrats. Post up some pics!

I was just going to ask do I need to replace the tires since it's still the original tires?? I can't seem to find any cracks or dry rot spots on the tires. They look good but should I replace them since they're almost 10 year old?
yea you're right, I ran my fingers through my brother in law's 600rr tires and my fingers wont slide but when I did it to my tires my fingers just slid like the tires had no grip.
Anybody in the tristate area can recommend me a good shop to buy tires and mount and balance?
