First take the MSF class. Make sure you budget enough $$ to get a bike AND quality safety gear. Doesn't have to be the most expensive stuff but needs to be able to protect your a$$ in a crash.

Too many miles is kind of a non-issue. You should look more for how the bike was maintained. I'd rather have a bike with 30K miles on it that was maintained immaculately than one with 10K miles with low or no maintenance. It's a good idea to take along someone impartial (you'll be creaming your pants when step in the saddle[8D]) that knows about bikes to point out any problems you might overlook in your enthusiasm.

Honestly, I'd rather see ya start on an older 600 rather than a 954 but that's just my 2 cents. I'd be dead now if I'd started on a liter bike -- too much temptation

Thanks for the advice, and yes i have a good job right now that im gettin paid pretty good money and i have looked into about how much money i will have next year, and it should be enough for the bike and gear but, insurance is a differnet story. I was talking to one of my freinds that has a kawasaki z1000 and when i told him that i considered gettin a CBR600RR his advice was that i would want a faster bike after a couple months of riding the 600. Also im not exactly what the class that he went through was called but it was taught by cops or somthin and he said it was a pretty good class, so i will be trying to look into the best class possible so i can get some good advice and experiance.
